Cooling System Pressure Testing
With the radiator cool, carefully remove the radiator cap from the radiator or service tank
Check coolant level, fill to recommended level if required.
Check the overflow tube / passage for obstruction. (note- Pressure released by the cooling system during vehicle operation must pass through this tube
Cooling System Pressure Tester operation and installation
Install the radiator pressure tester to the vehicle. (note, If an adapter is required refer to Using The Cooling System Pressure Tester Smartfit Adapter Kit
Always wet the rubber gasket of the radiator tester and tester head before attaching to the cooling system
Keep the locking ears in-line with the entrance notches of the opening
Press down and rotate the tester head clockwise until the lever climbs up, onto and completely over the ramp cams.
Operate the cooling system pressure test pump until the gauge displays the vehicles rated cooling system pressure
Take note of pressure and check intermittently over a 20 minute period ensuring there is no pressure reduction
Start the engine and allow to idle until the engine warms up, if the gauge vibrates or rises rapidly shut of the engine.
Once engine is at operating temperature, hold engine speed at around 2,500 rpm for 1 minute, while motoring cooling system pressure.
Allow vehicle to cool, prior to releasing cooling system pressure and removing pressure tester
Using The Cooling System Pressure Tester Smartfit Adapter Kit
The universal cooling system adapter kit uses three expanding rubber step cones to seal the neck of all engine cooling systems.
Cooling System Pressure Test Adaptor Kit Operational Use
Remove radiator / coolant reservoir cap
Wipe down face and filler neck with a rag
Select the closest fitting adapter
Install the rubber adapter into the stem of the main body and tighten it, until it barley fits into the radiator / reservoir neck
Tighten the main body to secure the adapter in the neck
